Neighborhood beautification can improve the quality of life of the residents. Living in pleasant surroundings improves daily life. and may help to foster connections among residents. When a person has a good quality of life, they are happier and relieved of many stressors related to their safety and well-being.
On June 14th 2020, volunteers kicked off the Beautification Program of EHNA on Ney Avenue, becoming the first beautification project of this community organization. We have residents that take pride in our East Oakland community and the amazing results are self-evident!
Wine barrels were ordered, repurposed as planters, landscaping material and evergreen plants purchased locally in the neighborhood. These plants are native to California, drought resistant, and attract pollinators like hummingbirds, butterflies and bees. With this beautification project, we hope Eastmont/Eastmont Hills provides an enjoyable, walkable and safe neighborhood. You can find the first of many planters on the Ney corridor at Partridge and at Parker.
Here are ways you can get involved for the next beautification event:
If you wish to see these planters on your street, volunteers would be happy to help set them up for you as funding becomes available! We rely on residents to keep the plants watered. Please email info@eastmonthills.org for inquiries or feedback.
This vision expands to neighboring communities as well. Don't be shy, contact us!
We rely on the generous donations from our community for beautification! If you want to help us fund this project, please consider donating! Even $5 would help our cause.
If you want a planter for your property, please email us at info@eastmonthills.org and we'll get you set up!
